What made you decide to get into real estate?

My husband and I became real estate investors in 2011 with the purchase of our first 4-plex. We were looking for something “more” to help create some financial security that could grow in value over time. The more we did it, the more I loved the whole process. It was an easy shift for me to move into a career where we could continue to invest in real estate, and help others who wanted to do the same thing.

Why do you love working in real estate?

I love that there is so much flexibility in my schedule. With 3 busy kids and a shift-working spouse, I can be available for them when I need to be and still be able to work with clients when they need me. I also enjoy meeting new people and helping them to meet their goals.

What part of the process makes you feel the most accomplished/happy?

I really enjoy the process of running numbers on rental properties to see if they will be a good fit for people looking to get into the income property market. I love being able to recommend a good buy and be able to back it up with evidence that shows how the cash flows.

Which location are you an expert in, and why?

I have spent most of my life living in the Southend of Sudbury, which includes Brenda Drive/Moonglo, Loellen, Lockerby, Algonquin, Richard Lake/McFarlane Lake areas. I also am familiar with many great rental areas in Sudbury from owning income properties around the city.

What makes Lake City Realty different?

I love that Lake City is a smaller brokerage. I wanted something that did not feel “corporate” while still had the experience to help me grow and learn. Lake City has some amazing ideas and visions about how a real estate transaction should be. The focus is on the relationships with clients instead of just the transactions, and that was something that I wanted to be a part of.

What can we find you doing in your spare time?

Spare time? Haha. We have 3 very active kids, so most of my downtime is spent managing one daughter’s volleyball team, cheering on our other daughter at ringette/flag football or cheering on our son at hockey/baseball. If none of those things are happening, then you can usually find me with my nose in a book, hiking some of our great trails, or catching up on some Netflix.
